On these devices, the DVI plug actually holds both a DVI-D input, as well as a universal analog input. The inputs are completely separate, and can be switched and selected in the same fashion as the rest of the inputs on the device. To select the analog source on this plug, select the input number which corresponds. To select the DVI-D source on this plug, select the input labeled “DVI 1” or “DVI 2.” Each unit ships with a breakout adaptor for each DVI-I input which has a male DVI-I plug on one end, and breaks out to a female HD15 (VGA) connector and a female DVI-I connector. Replacement adaptors can be ordered under reference number AW10009.

To turn off the PIP on these devices, first select the [PIP] layer, then select [Black] as the source and press TAKE. Then select the [BKGND LIVE] layer and switch your sources normally.

To perform a factory reset on most Analog Way devices, navigate the menu to the “Control” section, then choose “Default Values”.

If you are using a VGA connection to your projector or screen, start by performing an autocentering or “PC Image adjust” on the projector or display. It may help if you first display a test pattern from your switcher. If you are using a VGA source, try performing an autocentering on the input of the switcher. This is found in the Image portion of the menu.

Soft edge blending refers to the method of overlapping and combing multiple projectors in order to achieve one continuous image. Soft edge blending is often used with several projectors arranged horizontally to create very wide images, for example: as a backdrop to a stage. For this reason, soft edge blending is sometimes referred to as “a widescreen.” Analog Way offers several solutions for soft edge blending. More information can be found on our products pages.

The aspect ratio of a soft edge blend is determined by the resolutions of the projectors being used, the number and arrangement of the projectors, and the amount of overlap or covering between the projectors. Because of the overlap or covering, the aspect ratio is often different from the typical 4/3, 16/9, and 16/10 ratios that are commonly found in video signals. For example, two 16/9 projectors arranged in a horizontal blend with a 25% overlap would have an aspect ratio of 28/9. However, even if the total blended area is a non-typical aspect ratio, you could still display content at a standard aspect ratio through the use of scaling or PIP windows.

If you can’t see certain DVI sources on your analog or SDI outputs, but they work via the DVI outputs, you might be encountering an HDCP restriction. Sources that are HDCP protected must remain protected until they arrive at a HDCP protected display device. Since HDCP encryption cannot be used over analog or SDI, sources that start as HDCP encrypted signals cannot be sent out of the switcher over analog or SDI connections.

To check the firmware version on your Analog Way device, scroll in the menu to the “Control” section, then select “Version.” The firmware version is listed on the first line, for example: “Version: 4.00” If your device is a console, select “Device Setup”, then select “Update”. The firmware version is displayed at the bottom, for example: “Current Version : v3.20 Build 45”.

You can check for the latest firmware version available for your device by going to our website, to the Technical Support section, and selecting your product.

If you see a message indicating that your firmware versions are not up to date, it means that the controller, control software, or device firmware versions do not match each other. You may still be able to operate and control the system, but there may be features that do not work or are missing. Check the versions on your system and update everything to the latest version.

To update most Analog Way devices, start by downloading and installing the latest updater for your product from our website. This one file will contain everything you need to update your device to the latest firmware. Follow the instructions in the readme file. If you’re updating an Orchestra or Axion2 unit, you’ll need a USB thumbdrive. Unzip the downloaded firmware onto the root of your thumbdrive, and plug it into your console. When you go to the Update section of the Device Setup menu, select the new version and press update.
